Unlike Olaf (from Frozen), most of us in India do not look forward to summer. At least we don’t sing songs about what we’ll be doing in S-U-M-M-E-R. Even if we do, it is “Chubhti jalti garami ka mausam aaya.” (Time of scorching heat) However, we cannot escape the season entirely and need ways to power through. So I decided to share my Summer Survial tips and tricks with all of you today. Let’s get started.
1. Drink Plenty of Fluids.
There is no replacement of water in summer and when I say fluids, I mean hydrating liquids that will replenish water that you lose through sweating. No dehydrating and sugar-rich beverages like coffee, tea or colas.
2. Eat Light Meals.
This is a no-brainer especially since a light meal is all you will be able to eat since you will be more keen on drinking more water. Having plenty of fruits is also important to up your nutrient intake.
3. Wear Sunscreen and Safeguard Your Skin.
Yes, it is a part of summer survival guide. You need to protect yourself against the damaging rays of the sun. It also protects your from skin related diseases. Make sure to wear a sunscren with high SPF and PA factors.
Wrapping a scarf around your face and neck can help you safeguard your delicate skin from getting burned. Or you can consider wearing a hat. I never step out without a scarf around my face.
4. Protect Your Eyes.
The gift of sight is invaluable and not just the glaring screens of smartphones and laptops, hot air and dust can also irritate your eyes. Make sure to splash your face and clean your eyes and protect them in the sun by wearing quality sunglasses.
If you are like me and need to stare at a computer screen all day long, take a few breaks through the day to close your eyes and relax.
5. Have Detan Products Handy.
There is no way you are going to escape getting tannes when you step out in summer. And irregular skintone with tan lines does not appear attractive. You can use home remedies to lighten the tan or potent skincare products to get rid of the tan.
A detan scrub, face wash, and peel-off mask can make a huge difference. They can help your skin recover faster.

It is essential to take care of your skin and body in summer because dehydration can wreak a havoc on both of them. Make the most of early mornings and somewhat pleasant evenings. When summer starts to get to you, remember that monsoon is just around the corner!
