I have always been an avid follower of The Body Shop bath products. It all started in 2010 and I even built a The Body Shop collection back then. These days I am not into building collection but I am still trying out everything new things The Body Shop come out with. A few months ago, I picked up some of their body butters and shower gels. One of them is the Honeymania shower gel. I have pretty much reviewed everything I picked up that day so this shower gel was the only one left for review and I am reviewing it today. Hope you find it useful!
Product: The Body Shop Honeymania Shower Gel
Claim: This soap-free shower gel contains Community Fair Trade honey made from the nectar of thousands of wildflowers. Lather up to envelop skin in a rich, floral scent.
Quantity: 250 ml
Price: 450 INR
Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Fragrance, Honey, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Myristamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Citric Acid, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Geraniol, Linolool, Caramel, Colors – Yellow 6, Red 4, Blue 1.
The Body Shop Honeymania Shower gel comes in a clear recycled plastic bottle with a gold flip top lid. The shower gel looks just like honey but the smell is floral which in my opinion does not go with what I had in mind when I thought of “honey” in a shower gel.
It lathers well and washes off completely without leaving residue. It cleanses the skin without drying it out. The Body Shop claim this to be a soap-free cleanser which I think only means that this shower gel is SLS-free (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) because it does contain another surfectant called SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate). Both SLS and SLES serve the same purpose so in my opinion this product is not exactly soap free.
Anyhow, the main thing is that I am more put off by the scent since I am not into sharp floral scents. Somehow, I like the Moringa shower gel despite it being in the same scent category. I was expecting honey to be a warm sweet scent actually.
Rating: 3.75/5
Recommend: Yes
Repurchase: Maybe
I had a good experience using this shower gel but I prefer other scents from The Body Shop bath range so I might not be repurchasing this particular product anytime soon. I will still recommend this to people who like floral scents and want to use a cleanser which cleans the skin without stripping it of moisture.
