Heleow everyone! I am a huge fan of at home beauty treatments and today I present to you the two simple and cheap beauty treatments for face and lips that you do at home with the products easily available in the house.
1. Lip Scrub and moisturizer:
This might the most talked about at home beauty treatment and yet I see more and more people going after artificially produced lip scrubs which have far more ingredients than required. I read about this when I was 17 and I have never used anything else to scrub my lips!
Lip Scrub + Moisturizer- Powdered sugar (1/2 teaspoon) + Almond Oil (4-5 drops)
If your lips are a little sensitive, add a couple of drops of water to the sugar and oil mixture. You can also replace Almond oil with olive or coconut or any other edible oil of your choice. I always use almond oil because it is the best for skin and it makes me feel good. I buy Rogan Badam Shirin or Hamdard Almond oil (best).
Caution: Use finely powdered sugar and not sugar crystals or you might irritate (and cut) the delicate skin of your lips.
You can rub this mixture with your finger on your lips or for some heavy-duty scrubbing action, use an old toothbrush (clean!). The sugar will remove dead skin cells while the almond oil will soothe and moisturize your lips.
Clean with a tissue or wash with warm water (some people say lick it off but I don’t want to eat dead skin!)
2. Face Moisturizer + Skin Brightener:
I love using luxurious beauty products but when my skin is acting out, I go to the age old moisturizer that I read in an Ayurvedic Beauty treatment book a few years ago.
Face Moisturizer + Skin brightener: 1/3 rd part Glycerin + 1/3 rd part Lemon juice + 1/3 rd part Rose Water
I love how easily available these ingredients are and also how clean my skin feels after I wash my face.
How to Use: Cleanse you face (using a cleanser or face wash) and then apply this mixture thinly on your skin. Wait for 15-20 minutes and then wash off with cold water.
The lemon juice will deep clean and brighten your skin while glycerin will moisturize and the rose water will tighten your pores and soothe your skin. It’s a 4-in-1 solution!
If you have acne or very sensitive skin, lemon juice might irritate your skin so take necessary precautions or try on a part of face (patch test) before applying on full face. Lemon juice can cause a little bit of itching in the dry areas of the face, a little bit is usual but it should not be uncomfortable. Rinse off in case of doubt! In my dry areas a round my face, I dab on a bit of almond oil with my finger to moisturize it before applying this mixture. In winter (or for very dry skin), reduce lemon juice mixture quantity or skip it altogether.
I hope you found these two home remedies useful. Let me know how they turned out for you. Please share you home remedies with me in the comments section!
