Review – LUSH Ro's Argan Body Conditioner

LUSH was to be my favorite brand for natural products and it was the only international brand that I trusted for my skincare for a few years. In 2013, they closed their stores in India 🙁 and even though I have not lived there for about 15 months, I know I am going to miss it. So to make up for that, I decided to buy LUSH products in Korea itself despite the apparent price difference. I got the Ro’s Body Conditioner and BB Seaweed mask (and received a soap as a gift with purchase). The BB Seaweed mask developed fungus within 10 days of buying and I did not even get a chance to use it even once *angry face* but I did get to use the LUSH Ro’s Body Conditioner after using up my L’Occitance Almond Milk Concentrate. I have been using it for over a week and here are my thoughts on it!

Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner

Product: LUSH Ro’s Body Conditioner
Claim: Heaven-scented smooth skin
Quantity: 240 g
Price: 40000 KRW (40$) [price in US 29$]
It is called Body Conditioner because it is supposed to work like a Hair Conditioner. You use it in the shower and wash it off! I did not have a good experience with the Nivea In Shower Body Lotion so I had my doubts but I got it because I was having a tough time with my dry skin! The skin on my back has been especially flaky so I thought this oil-based product is the answer. And it has not disappointed me.

Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner consistency!

The things you will notice is the “chocolate” color of the body conditioner and the caramel type sweet scent (neither pleasant nor unpleasant). When I applied it, I felt that it had a  lighter texture than body butter but, of course, thicker than a body lotion or souffle. After washing it left a oily residue which was not comfortable at first but completely went away after wiping off with a towel. My skin felt super moisturized and I did not need to apply anything else.
I always liked the idea of applying body moisturizer in the shower because it is easier and faster than applying it to the dry body skin. Just a personal preference now.
I liked the amount of product I received but man I hate the amount I had to pay for it – almost 11$ extra! And of course my mask went bad 🙁 My complaint about the product is that I am not a fan of the scent. I like sweet scents and even though it does not put me off, it is not something I really want to smell like. And it contains parabens!
LUSH is an expensive brand and I do not know why they will use cheap preservatives like parabens (Methylparaben and Propylparaben to be exact). Anyway, many products I have used recently have parabens. I cannot read Korean so I could not read the labels before buying otherwise, I might have chosen something else.

LUSH Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner

I appreciate LUSH’s commitment to being eco-friendly and I feel a bit like a snob to complain about the tub form packaging. I think I am using more than I should because I have to scoop out the product. And even though this is not a negative point, I think it does play a role in the whole experience. It is expensive and it will not last longer than 3-4 weeks (less than a month!)
Rating: 4.25/5
Recommend: Yes
Repurchase: Maybe
I have given this rating to Ro’s Body Conditioner because it does the job of moisturizing the body well but I deducted points for parabens and the scent! I would recommend this products to people who like to use richer moisturizer (not heavy) and do not mind parabens in their cosmetics. This is a luxury product and I am sure there are plenty of amazing affordable products too, so if you can afford it then only go for it!
