Review: Estée Lauder Take It Away Gentle Makeup Remover

I got this Makeup remover in the Holiday Collection that Estée Lauder released in 2013 called the Makeup Artist Professional Color Collection. There was an 18-color eyeshadow palette, 4 color blush palette, a mini nail paint, a small size Stay-In-place Black eye pencil, 3 full size lipsticks, a mini Advanced Night Repair Cream, a small size Mascara, a full size Take it Away Gentle Eye and Lip Longwear Makeup Remover (See my haul post and unboxing video). I have been using this makeup remover on and off ever since. I am very close to finishing it off so I thought of sharing my review with all of you!

Estee Lauder Take it Away Gentle Eye and Lip LongWear Makeup Remover

Product: Estée Lauder Take It Away Gentle Eye and Lip Longwear Makeup Remover
Claim: Advanced, highly-effective dual-phase formula quickly dissolves longwear and waterproof makeup with the light sweep of a cotton pad. Aloe Vera and other botanical ingredients help calm and soothe skin, leaving it clean, soft, supple-with no oily residue or greasy after feel. Gentle enough for even the most sensitive eye areas. For all skin types.
Quantity: 100 ml (3.4 fl. oz.)
Price: 20$
The Estee Lauder Take it Away Gentle Eye and Lip LongWear Makeup Remover comes in a transparent blue-ish plastic bottle with golden push-open lid. I do not like that there is no stopper to control the remover once the top lid is opened. A cap with a small hole would help dispense the right amount and avoid accidental spilling (happened twice). So it is not travel-friendly!
The cleanser separates into two different layers – oil and water so it is mandatory to shake it well before using. The smell is not very pleasant and is very chemically. The makeup remover does not sting my eyes (I have sensitive eyes).
I like to use cleansing oil and massage on my face but due to the excessively liquid (runny) consistency of this makeup remover, I have to use a cotton pad to remove my makeup to use this, which leads to product wastage in my opinion.
The main thing I do not like about this products is that it does not remove waterproof makeup well. Actually the Etude House Lash Perm 3 Step Volumecara is not even a waterproof product (I think) but this Estee Lauder makeup remover is not able to remove it completely. Plus it is so “gentle” that I have to tug at my eyes to remove the eyeliner and eyeshadow. If I use this on my waterline to remove the makeup from there, I get cloudy vision for a few minutes which goes away when I wash my eyes. So I do not use it there anymore.
I usually only use this when I am not wearing anything more than a normal lipstick and eyeliner. On the days I am wearing heavy eye makeup and/or lip stain, I find this product does not remove the makeup completely.

If you wear heavy eye makeup, this may not work out for you. Plus this is only for the eyes and lips so you need another makeup remover to take away the face makeup. I like using something gentle like BioDerma Sensibio or Etude House Eraser Show Remover Bar to remove the makeup from my waterline and tight-line. Plus I have been loving my Etude House Cleansing Serum and Banila Co. Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm way better. If you have sensitive skin or delicate eye area, I would not recommend this. For light eye makeup, this might work well but then I will need to justify 20$ for just that!
