Plus Size Fashion: Outfits from Jammu & Kashmir Trip!

Plus Size Fashion: Outfits from my Jammu & Kashmir Trip!

Hi everyone, if you have been following this blog for a while, you know I recently travelled to Kashmir. The trip did not turn out to be as fabulous as I expected it to be because of all of us falling sick etc. But I had a great time doing shoots for my outfits. I was really sick on the last day of our trip (102 F fever and stuff) so there are a total of 4 outfits instead of 5. I planned my outfits in a way that I had something different for each day and also so as to keep comfort in mind. As a plus size fashion ambassador (if I can call myself that), I felt like I had to share how to stay comfortable and stylish while travelling (or even if you are sick, ha!) So grab a cup of coffee or something because this is going to be a long and chatty post!

Outfits from Kashmir trip

The trip started on a bad note as my husband caught viral fever a day before the trip. But we still decided to go ahead with our plans with a loaded medicine box. I wanted to have a comfortable and sporty outfit for the first day so I paired my modified Levi’s 312 Jeans (cut into capri) with a striped Promod top. I like travelling in dark colors so this was an obvious choice. To add to the look, I accessorized using my stackable bracelets with my The ONE watch. Of course I put on my gray FILA shoes to complete the outfit.
However, luck turned against us as it rained and we did not get a chance to see the beauty of Patnitop. We still clicked loads of photos from our balcony and giggled like little children gorging on bad food served in our hotel. I have never had such bad Dal Makhani in my life.
I kept my makeup pretty simple – BB cream, black eyeliner and coral lips.

Rainy Patnitop!

We had an early start the next morning and left for Srinagar in our cab. I wanted to keep this day for my favorite outfits because I knew this was the only day we were actually going to do something.
So for the daytime, I wore my H&M black blouse with striped fuscia cardigan over my monochrome polka dot skirt. I like skater skirts, I think they make me look slimmer and taller. It was a bit cold (and for some modesty) I also wore my ankle-cut Zara stockings. It is my most used garment since I always pair my short dresses with it especially when I am using public transport. I added my sparkly pink ballet flats from Westside to add some glamour to this girly outfit. I also added my statement necklace again from Westside to the outfit.
For makeup, I used a dewy finish foundation, winged liner and bold lips!
Since we were going to take Shikara ride of Dal Lake in the evening, I wore my Fusion Beats Peach Maxi dress. It has the most beautiful chicken work bustier with an A-line ombre maxi. I picked this outfit specifically for this trip. Cotton is the most difficult fabric for travel outfits but I packed it by rolling it length wise. It helped reduce the creasing. I paired this with my studded rose gold and beige sandals from Catwalk. I also added my Kundan bangle, Rose gold dainty necklace and rings. I had some time to style my hair so I braided it to keep it away from my face.  We shot the photos on our house boat. During our shikara ride, we also stopped for a little water skating. Sadly we got too late for Jet Ski.
We had dinner at Nathu’s Sweets restaurant at the Dal Lake front before retiring to our rooms on our house boat.
Makeup was a medium coverage foundation, winged liner, coral blush and orange lipstick!

By this morning, I had a high fever but I still braved the cold to take a few pics in the J&K valleys. I had a cape on with my printed white T-shirt and black leggings from Zara. I was feeling cold so I also had my polka dot socks on with my pink ballet flats. I actually had something else planned for this day but I was so miserable this comfortable outfit is all I could handle. I saved my ethnic outfit for some other day. I was so disappointed with how this trip went on, I do plan on visiting Kashmir some other time to go to Sonamarg and Gulmarg.
Makeup was – kajal and light pink lipstick!

Outfit shot somewhere in J&K! Loved this view

By the last day cold and cough had totally taken over me and I couldn’t even open my eyes because of the high fever. I came back, ran the errands (doing laundry, cooking) before packing again and leaving for Chandigarh (my parent’s house) the next morning (so no outfit pic of that day.)
Despite everything that happened on the trip (including untimely girly stuff), I had fun on my Kashmir trip. The valleys are so gorgeous, we got to see it all on our way to and fro Jammu and Kashmir. I cannot even imagine how beautiful it will be in winter! I plan on travelling more in the future to bring more outfit posts for you from beautiful places from around the world. After all, “Fashion + Travel” is my favourite combination for blogging.
