Maybelline the Magnum Barbie Mascara – Review, FOTD, Price in India!

Hi everyone, how are you doing today? I have been under the weather for quite a few days but hey I gotta do makeup! Hehe. Since eye makeup is my favorite, I have been trying out the Maybelline Magnum Barbie Mascara for about a month now. While most people stick to one type of look (they prefer) – natural or dramatic – I am one of those who like to experiment. I might be in a mood for dramatic makeup or decide to go Au Naturel on any given day. So I was ecstatic to find this Maybelline mascara. The formula is waterproof and weightless and makes the lashes look thicker to create a Barbie Eyes look.

Maybelline the Magnum Barbie Mascara comes in a spectacular yellow and metallic pink print and cap. It is an eye-catching tube which somehow reminds me of Etude House products. The brush has curve shape like the Falsies mascara but the bristles are not very neat and there are way too many fibres in this mascara.
This mascara comes only in one shade – black – and is supposed to be a lengthening mascara with two sizes of fibres. It has a pretty thick formula so it can add some volume at the root.

Well all in all it looked like a promising mascara so when I applied it, I felt like it was creamy and thick. It did not feel very heavy on the lashes making them look weighed down but it wasn’t light either. The bristles did not distribute the mascara between the lashes evenly and I think the lengthening effect was lower than my expectations (and the company claims). It did add volume to the roots but more than 2-3 coats made my lashes stick together which did not look very appealing to me. But…
This mascara if kept at two coats, looks very natural to the eyes. It does not give Barbie lashes as claimed but it does help define the lashes and add some volume at the root making them look thicker. It is waterproof so it is perfect for summer and monsoon months. It can be removed using a good cream or oil-based remover with some effort (like all waterproof mascara.) If this had been marketed as an everyday mascara, I would have given it a better review. It works very different from the claims the brand has plastered all over it.
Okay, so it is a waterproof mascara that can be worn everyday and comes at an affordable price. It stays all day on my eyes but looks best till 6-7 hours. So once we have established this, let me give you cons of the product – it is flaky. It has some bits coming off the eyes and getting into the eyes or on the face all through its wear time. That’s it!

So overall, I believe Maybelline the Magnum Barbie Mascara is an affordable, jet black volumizing mascara that can be worn everyday. It is a bit flaky so people with sensitive eyes can safely skip it. It dries quickly so build it up fast and I would not recommend doing more than 2-3 coats of this mascara. It is waterproof so it stays put all day and can be removed with a good cream or oil based remover. The price point is definitely a plus so give it a go!
