Maybelline the Colossal Kajal Super Black Review, Swatches

Maybelline New York have launched some amazing products in the past few years. Some of the fantastic drugstore eyeliners come from the house of Maybelline – Maybelline Colossal Kajal (Black), Maybelline the Colossal Liner, Maybelline Colossal Kajal (Turquoise), Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner. So of course I was dying to try out the Maybelline Colossal Kajal SuperBlack when it was launched recently. There has not been much noise about is launch though. Anyway. I have been giving this a try for a few days now so here is the detailed review!

Maybelline the Colossal Kajal Super Black comes in a black plastic retractable packaging with yellow accents. The color scheme is the same as the Maybelline Colossal Kajal but the colors have been swapped. I think the Colossal Kajal’s yellow packaging stood out more than this black one.

Maybelline Colossal Kajal Super Black is jet black in color. It is the blackest black of my black liners at the moment. I think Banila Co. Eye Love Deep Black Style Eyeliner is probably the closest one to this in pigmentation. The Maybelline Super Black kajal is definitely more deep than the Maybelline Colossal Kajal.
The kajal is creamy in texture and slides well both on the waterline or upper lashline. It sets fast!

Maybelline the Colossal Kajal Super Black Swatches (Top – One Swipe, Bottom – Two swipes)

The Maybelline Colossal Kajal Super Black is smudge and water proof. It sets to a satin finish after application. Two swipes good a very deep pigmentation. For a smoked look, you need to smudge it within moments of applying else it will set and won’t budge. It comes off with any cream or oil-based makeup remover.
This eyeliner stays well on the eyes for upto 12 hours (the longest I have worn this black eyeliner till now). It does fade slightly on my waterline after a few hours – 6 hours to be exact – but it still looks good enough many hours later. It stays much better above the upper lashline.
I swatched the kajal on my hand and then kept it on for the whole day (on purpose). 12 hours later, it still stood without smudging or fading! I have used it on my waterline as well as upper lashline multiple times in the past few days. I am however, a bit surprised to see the price hike from Colossal Kajal to Colossal Kajal Super Black.
Since I have used both the Colossal Kajal and the Colossal Kajal Super Black, let me just say that both are amazing products and I think the only difference is the color – Black, jet black. So you choose either one!
There was one peculiar thing that happened though, a small part of it fell off when was applying it as an eyeliner (on my lashline). Quite a bit of the product got wasted. I was not being rough so I am not sure why it happened. Just be careful and gentle with it especially if using it an an eyeliner.

Overall I am pleased with the Maybelline Colossal Kajal Super Black. It is jet black, sets to a satin finish and stays all day long. I think it is perfect for everyday use and even though it is dearer than the Colossal Kajal, I think it is still affordable when compared to other drugstore kajals in the market right now. I would highly recommend the Maybelline Super Black Colossal Kajal!
