Maybelline Baby Lip Electro Pop – Pink Shock

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop is a new addition to the popular Baby Lips range of lip products by Maybelline. I was not in love with the original Baby Lips but liked the Baby Lips Color range so picked up the Electro Pop Baby Lips out of curiosity. There are currently 4 shades in this range – Fierce N Tangy (Lemon flavour), Oh! Orange (Orange flavour), Pink Shock (Watermelon flavour), Berry Bomb (Strawberry flavour). I wanted to pick up both Pink Shock and Berry Bomb but ended up buying Pink Shock to try first. Read on to find out if I am happy with my purchase!

Maybelline Baby Lip Electro Pop – Pink Shock

Maybelline Baby Lip Electro Pop lip balms come in a plastic black bullet with transparent lid. The print on the packaging of these lip balms is color coordinated with the shade of the lip balm so Pink Shock comes with a bold Fuscia print on the packaging. The lip balm stick does not twist all the way in so you can see the color from outside the packaging. The disadvantage of this packaging is that you need to be extra careful while putting the lid back on after use (no biggie but something to note).
I have tried enough tinted lip balms to guess which colors will give me some color payoff, for my unevenly pigmented lips, so I picked up Pink Shock. My other choice, as I have mentioned above was Berry Bomb. I like the flavour of this lip balm in terms of scent (not that I licked it or anything). It is not solely watermelon fruit, but more like Watermelon candy!

Maybelline Baby Lip Electro Pop Pink Shock swatches – One Swipe (top), Two Swipes (bottom)

I was expecting more vividness from the Electro Pop Pink Shock lip balm, judging by the looks but was not too disappointed after swatching it. One swipe gives a sheer wash of (pink) color but the color is buildable and becomes a tad bit opaque (as much as a lip balm can be) and vivid with another swipe. I like how it looks on me after two swipes!
I have not experienced any staining from this lip balm, neither does it claim to be one. I like the softness it gives to my lips and also the refreshing flavour. The moisture from the lip balm lasts for 3-4 hours but the color seems to fade slightly faster (~2-3 hours). I do not mind reapplying this though. I am glad that despite being moisturizing, it does not bleed out the lipline or settle in lines, a problem I have had with products that had a slick(y) texture.
I do not see SPF printed on the packaging but they did mention it in the claim (nad have Titanium Dioxide in ingredient list) so I am guessing the Electro Pop lip balms do provide sun protection, not sure though!

Recommend: Yes. If you like tinted lip balms that moisturize lips adequately, have fresh scent & flavour, and give a beautiful color to the lips, this is an ideal match for you!
Repurchase: Yes. I will consider repurchasing the Electro Pop lip balm in Berry Bomb (since I have tried Pink Shock)!
