Hair Care: Livon Serum Light Weight Formula (with Before and After Photos)
Livon, called Livon Silky Potion at the time, was the first hair serum I ever tried when it came out a few years ago. I liked how soft and manageable my hair was after I used Livon. I decided to keep it for special occasions. I then moved on to other products. Years later, I am back to using Livon to tame my hair but this time with the new light-weight formula with Vitamin E and mild fragrance. I have used it a few times so here is my detailed review with a hairstyle I created with the help of the New Livon Serum!
Product: Livon Serum – Light weight formula
Price: 215 INR
Quantity: 100 ml
Claim: Livon Serum Instantly transforms frizzy, tangles hair to look silky and shiny and protects it from breakage. Key Features of the Livon Serum light-weight formula:
- Damage protection
- Frizz control
- Easy out tangles
- Reduce breakage
- Silky shiny hair
Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Diphenyl Dimethicone, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Fragrance.
How to Use Livon Serum:
- Livon serum is best applied to damp hair. Just-washed hair is tangled and prone to breakage. Protect your hair from breakage by applying livon serum afterwards.
- Wind & pollution can cause frizz and tangles to recur. Hard combing to remove these tangles can lead to breakage. A few drops of livon serum will help you untangle your hair easily and protect it from breakage during combing.
I have always had wavy hair, however, it has become drier and drier with time. I blame that on hair color that I need to apply every two months to cover up for the premature greying of hair that I suffer from. This has led to my dependence on hair serums and masks to add some moisture to my hair. Conditioners and hair oils just do not do enough for me.
Recently, I was sent the new Livon Serum and I started using it right away since I had just run out of the Fairfax Hair Energizer. I felt that the new Livon Serum has a lighter formula than the original, Livon Silky Potion. Then I picked up the cardboard packaging for more details. And it confirmed that this is a light-weight formula.
Livon Serum comes in a clear plastic bottle with pink twist open lid which also has a flip top. The packaging is exactly the same as Livon Silky Potion. It smells nice, the fragrance is mild and falls in the floral category in my opinion.
The formula contains silicones but does not feel very greasy to the fingers. This serum did not weigh down my hair which is something I really loved. It made my hair soft and easier to manage; it did not make it greasy or clumpy.
I am glad that it has a small ingredient list. Many serums these days have a long ingredient list with low-quality ingredients, overpowering fragrance and added colors.

How to create a Simple Side Bun:
I wanted to do a hairstyle that I can do easily on my hair. However, since I had washed my hair, it was going all types of crazy on me (see my before photo). I applied Livon to my damp hair and then left it to air dry. Once my hair was completely dry, I detangled it using a wide-toothed comb.
Then I created a side part and separated a wide section of hair. I divided it into two parts. Then I twisted them. For the next twist, I picked up a section of hair from underneath the twist. I twisted it again until I reached behind my ear. Then, I twisted the rest of hair and tied it with an elastic band at the bottom. I then rolled it into a bun. I was feeling a bit fancy so added an accessory. I really liked how this whole look turned out. It took me less than 10 minutes to do the complete look.
The hair hack to get smooth sections is to apply Livon to your fingers while doing this hairstyle. It will help tame your hair and smoothen it out when you twist it. It also reduces flyaways and baby hair from sticking out.
Here is another shot:
I could have used a hair dryer or straightener to create a smoother look. But I do not use those things frequently, I only use them for special occasions. I wanted to show you how I would actually do this hairstyle so I did.
