Gillette used to be known only for their razors for men years ago before they came out with cute razors for women. I always preferred waxing over other forms of hair removal because of the clean skin I received but it was a bit inconvenient to wait for a level of growth for waxing. For many occasions, I had shave my arms and legs for the clean and smooth skin look. I have tried many razors over the years but the ones from Gillette Venus have been my ultimate choice.
Honestly, when I talk about waxing, shaving or any kind of beauty regime that girls “have to” follow, I always get a bit iffy. Don’t get me wrong, I love clean hair-free skin but sometimes I hate that these things are not left as a choice for women. Men can sport a stubble and be all confident but a girl with unshaped brows or unwaxed (or unshaven) legs is looked down upon. Women NEED to conform to standards set by society. And this is not only applicable in terms of our bodies but also our life choices. There are so many categories, that define us women in one dimension. A smart woman cannot be a good wife, a good wife cannot be an entrepreneur, a successful career woman cannot be a good mother. It’s like we cannot be two different things in life. But it is time we stop limiting ourselves and be whatever we want to be – we can be beautiful and smart, creative and stylish, etc. Gillette Venus India has also started a campaign – Use Your And – it has made me realize how the change has already started to take place in our mindsets.
Take a look at the Gillette Venus “Use Your AND” campaign:
A new Global Survey by Gillette Venus reveals that most women around the world (70%) have felt labeled by others. Those labels can be assigned as young as 10 years old and nearly half of those surveyed say those labels have had a negative effect on their lives (43%). Despite the advances of women in the work place and home, the survey shows that girls still feel being labeled affects their self-perception and life choices.
In response Gillette Venus – the world leader in female shaving – is launching today the “Use Your And” campaign to inspire women and girls to stand-up against one-dimensional labels, encouraging them to #UseYourAnd and unleash the innate potential inside all women.
As part of the campaign, Gillette Venus is releasing the new “AND Stand” video to spark a global conversation and inspire women to use their ANDs – all of the qualities, attributes and characteristics that make a woman who she is.

& is an invitation for women to believe in the power of their potential; to be aware that everything about them makes them extraordinary and to not to accept being defined by one-dimensional label.
It is a great campaign that really made me think about how I have sometimes limited myself because I let myself be trapped in these categories. Over the years I have slowly learnt to see myself in different light. I am a multi-dimensional human being, a talented person who is not limited in anyway. I can do anything I set my mind to. So let’s break the rules and replace OR with AND. Not only that, if someone compliments us we are going to add a quality that we are equally proud of – example – You have great legs… & I am good at Maths. Let’s break the stereotypes!

Gillette Venus Razor for women comes in a sleek, easy to use packaging which is cute to look at and also functional. It is compact and travel-friendly. I love carrying one with me when I travel because I hate to hunt for parlors just for waxing and I love being free to choose between dresses and pants rather than being forced to wear pants because of the hair growth on my legs. I like the razor, targeted towards women, is not plain or too fancy; it is blue and has a cute design. The razor head has 3 blades for a closer shave and a smoother skin. The Aloe & Vitamin E around the blades (in the indicator strip) act as a cushion and softening agent for the skin.
I remember the days I used to use my father’s razor for my arms, I would often end with bumps and cuts because the blades were sharp and it had no cushions to prevent cuts. That is probably the reason I opted for waxing but Gillette Venus razors, geared towards women, are made for us. I have rarely cut myself during shaving my legs and have rarely gotten ingrown hair which had become a big problem in my early years of shaving.
The razors are a bit expensive but I see them as an investment because they last longer than cheap disposable razors and the razor cartridge heads can be bought and used multiple times.

I really liked that Gillette created a sleek razor meant for women which is not pink and is still a bit cute and girly to look at. It works well for our delicate skin and is suitable for use on the underarms, arms, bikini line and/or legs. The razor head is replaceable and body lasts a long time. So what do you prefer shaving or waxing? Have you tried Gillette Venus razor?
