Black eyeliner is a must have in my opinion and I have a huge collection of them in different forms – regular brush style, gel liner, pen style, pencil etc. and the latest addition to my collection was the Etude House Easy & Quick Pen liner in BK801. As of now, this is the only shade in the sketch pen style from Etude House. I picked it up because I really loved the color payoff from this eyeliner. This is the only liquid liner of any form to have come closer to my favorite L’Oreal Carbon Black eyeliner in terms of “blackness”. So read on to find out if it actually impressed me or not!

Some of the Etude House makeup products have become my favorite over the past few months. I love their Proof 10 eyeliners, Dear My Blooming Lips Talk lipstick, Dear My Enamel gloss and Lovely Cookie Blushers. I was also quite impressed with their Oh M Eye Line liquid eyeliners so it was obvious that I would like to try out their new eyeliners. I got all three of the new eyeliners – Easy & Quick Pen Liner, the Gelquid liner and the Play 101 Pencil.
The Etude House Easy & Quick pen liner looks exactly like a black sketch pen. It has a 2mm nib exactly like a sketch pen and it works exactly like a sketch pen. The tip is stiff and dispenses the liquid evenly. It took me a little of getting used to a pen liner as I have never used anything like this before. At first I had trouble creating a thin line but now I have gotten accustomed to it and can draw a relatively thin liner.
The liner takes a few seconds to set, but once it sets, it stays all day unless touched or rubbed vigorously. The intensity of the color also does not fade much through the day and yet it is easy to remove with any cleansing cream, oil or balm. I have been using the Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Cream with this more often.
One of the tiny problems that I have notices is that I cannot get a sharp edge (for winged liner) using this tip. It might be because of my in-adequateness or something but I thought of putting this out there. For a medium to thickly lined eyes, this is the blackest pen liner I have come across. And at 9$ it is relatively affordable.
I have also used this under my lower lashline for the typical Indian kohl rimmed eyes type of look on many days I was too lazy to do anything else. It is pretty bold and the look stays all day even in the humid Delhi weather! Unless washed when wet, this is sort of waterpoof.
The packaging is pretty basic and again like a sketch pen. I like the grey polka dot and the cursive print in pink on the body of the pen.

I would have liked this liner even more if I had a way of creating winged liner with this but other than that, for the pigmentation, lasting power and ease of use, this is a pretty good black eyeliner. I like brush tip eyeliners more but for bold eyes (thick liner) look this is my go to liner at the moment. There are plenty of felt-tip liners but this is the first sketch pen type eyeliner for me. For simple brush type liquid liner, try Etude House Oh M~ Eye Line (read my review).
