I featured the Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist in my 2013 Beauty Favorites but I totally forgot to do a review on the blog. So today while looking through my drafts, I found a half-baked review of this face wash in there. So I am going to complete the review today and tell you what I think about this Cleansing Foam since I have used this up last week!
Product: Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist
Claim: Formulated with baking powder to penetrate and cleanse deep within pores to remove makeup and residues. Maintains rich, smooth lather for moist sensation.
Quantity: 150 ml (5.07 fl. oz.)
Price: 7500 KRW (~ 7.5$)
There are 3 cleansing foams in this range: Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam (Blue packaging, Price – 6500 KRW), Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist (Pink packaging, Price – 7500 KRW), Baking Powder BB Deep Cleansing Foam (Half blue, half pink packaging, Price – 6500 KRW). I have used the Baking Powder Pore Cleansing foam and the Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist. However, I do know that the BB Deep Cleansing Foam is meant to remove BB cream. Infact I did not buy the BB Deep Cleansing Foam because my skin would not feel clean to me if I do not use a makeup remover to wipe off my face before washing it. And if I use a makeup remover with the BB Deep Cleansing Foam, it would sort of defeat the purpose. Anyway, this post is about the Cleansing Foam Moist.
So, I had learnt from Sales Assistant that the Baking Powder Cleansing Foams are meant for gentle exfoliation (since Baking Powder has exfoliating properties), the Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist has ingredients to balance the drying properties of the Baking Powder and hence is suitable for dry skin. I have also used and reviewed the Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam.
I got it because I was having dry skin which was breaking out around the chin (which I later learned was harmonal imbalance). I was under the assumption that it was happening because I was not cleaning my skin thoroughly. I later learned that I was having the breakouts because of drinking raw milk. The problem solved when I started boiling milk for consumption. So moving on. I used this face wash for a few months and during January when the weather was really dry, my skin got a irritated by the twice a day exfoliation. So I switched to a different cleanser but now in spring again this face wash started working well for me.
The consistency is quite creamy and thick. It does not have tiny white specs like the Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam. Bit it still lathers well and the skin does not feel stripped of moisture afterwards. I also do not notice as much tightening of the skin after using this unlike the Pore Cleansing foam.
I think this cleansing foam will work well for people with all skintypes. But for dry skin, twice a day gentle exfoliation is too much so I only use it in the evening after I remove my makeup while I am using a gentle cleansing foam in the morning.
Rating: 3.5/5
Recommend: Yes
Repurchase: Maybe
I noticed that my skin got very relatively breakout-free after using this face wash so I do believe this face wash in addition to the Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam has given me better results than any other face wash I have ever tried. But this far from perfect as I want to find something even better. I plan on trying a few Ayurvedic ones now (yearning to go back to India for that now) so I may not be repurchasing this face wash again! But for once-a-week deep cleansing action, I am planning to pick up the Baking Powder Exfoliating powder wash. This is from the same range but offers a deeper cleansing action and comes in a powder form (individually packed)!

[…] This cleansing foam lathers well and cleans the skin gently without stripping it of moisture. As lazy as I can be, I have washed my face and slept without applying moisturizer and did not feel tightness or new dry spots appear on my face. It has worked well for my dry skin. But if you like the squeaky-clean feeling, this may not work for you. I feel the texture of this face cleanser is quite similar to the Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist. […]
