Deepika Padukone IIFA2016 Inspired Makeup Tutorial Video, FOTD!

Hi everyone, it has been a long time since I did a celebrity inspired makeup tutorial. Actually I have only done it once a long time ago. But after seeing Deepika Padukone’s makeup at the IIFA 2016 event, I felt like recreating the look. I have seen Deepika pair this makeup look with ethnic outfits multiple times in the past. And since it was slightly out of my comfort zone, I decided to start with this look. I have only seen 4 photos of her wearing this makeup look so the real version may look different but I created the look from how it appeared to me. Hope you like it!

Step 1: Use a good eyeshadow primer (do you ever use a bad one ;)). A good base is really important for bold shades like black. I used The Body Shop InstaBlur Eye Tinted Concealer + Primer.

Step 2: Use a black eyeshadow stick or kohl pencil all over the eyelid. Since I have hooded eyes, I went even above my crease. I used the L’Oreal Paris Kajal Magique Bold. You can stop at the crease or below the crease depending on your preference. The reason I went so far above was that Deepika’s brows are quite close to her eyes so there is little area visible between the brows and the eyelids. I have hooded eyes which means a lot of skin shows above my slightly visible eyelid.

Step 3: Set the black cream base with a matte black eyeshadow. I used the shade – Noir – from my Sleek Makeup Ultra Mattes V2 Darks palette.

Step 4: Blend the edge of the black eyeshadow with a dark brown shade. I used the shade – Paper Bag – from my Sleek Makeup Ultra Mattes V2 Darks palette for this step.

Step 5: Use a creamy shimmer-y shade to highlight the browbone. I used my Canmake Perfect Stylist Eyes palette for this (shade on top left).

Step 6: Matte black can look harsh so add a bit of shimmer using glitter or shimmer-y eyeshadow. I used Canmake Perfect Stylist Eyes palette (shade at the center).

Step 7: Apply kajal on the waterline and below the waterline. Smudge it using the black eyeshadow. For a more smoky look, run the dark brown slightly under the black.

Step 8: Curl your lashes and apply a couple of coats of mascara. Apply falsies! They add major drama to this look. When I was doing my makeup, I felt a world of difference between this look with and without lashes. I used my Maybelline the Magnum Super Film Volum’ Express Mascara and Daiso #11 false lashes. I felt like the look did not appear as polished as I wanted it to be so I used StudioWest Pure Passion Dramatic Eye Liner in Black to connect my false lashes with the inner corner of my eyes.

Step 9: Draw and fill in your brows. If you have bold brows, they totally work for this look. I had to draw them a lot and bring them a bit lower (by concentrating more at the base of the brow). This eyeshadow look needs a bold brow in my opinion! I used my Etude House Drawing Eye Brow.

Step 10: Use a medium to full-coverage concealer to hide the dark circles. I used the MAC Select Cover Up Concealer for this step. Bold eye looks require perfect under eye area otherwise the whole look makes you appear tired or worse it can look like raccoon eyes! A brightening concealer works best but since I have really bad dark circles, I had to go for a color correcting one.

Step 11: Mix your foundation with a liquid highlighter or shimmer makeup base and apply it all over the face. I used my Clio Professional Kill Cover Sheer Blender in Sheer Tan with my L’Oreal Paris Infallible Foundation. This gave my skin a dewy fresh look.

Step 12: Set the concealer with a powder. Since I wanted another layer of coverage for my dark circles I used MAC Studio Fix Powder. This way I had 3 layers of makeup to hide my dark circles – concealer, foundation, powder foundation.

Step 13: Deepika has a chiseled face so she doesn’t need sculpting but I do so I used Benefit Hoola Bronzer to slightly define my cheekbones and also hide my double chin!

Step 14: I added a peachy pink blush to my cheeks as it appeared that Deepika had something to give her cheeks a rosy look. So I used Maybelline Cheeky Glow – Peachy Sweetie. A cream blush with a hint of shimmer would have looked even better but this is what I had at hand at the time.

Step 15: After doing step 14 I felt like a bit of glow was missing so I put some my Clio Professional Sheer Blender on my cheekbones.

Step 16: Deepika seemed to be wearing a n*de pink shade on the lips so I used my Oriflame The One Color Stylist Lip Liner in Perfect Pink to add color to my lips. I then used my finger to blend it in with the Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bouquet lipstick REB07. This is the kind of n*de pink shade that works for my skintone.
