The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner – Review, Price
3 years ago when I started blogging, I was more into skincare than makeup. Since I dealt with dry skin, I was under the impression that I did not need a toner. And I stand correted! Because a few toners I have tried in the past have changed my life forever, I have linked to those in this post. So a few months ago I bought The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner. I am almost about to run out of it so I thought I would review it for you today!

The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner Ingredients: Aqua, Pentylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice

The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner comes in a sea foam green plastic bottle with twist open lid. The lid also has a small dispenser which can be used to pour out the product on a cotton pad. The scent of this toner is very mild but it smells a bit alcohol-ish to me. The toner itself is clear with no added color.
I expected this to be a soothing toner for my dry skin. A toner which would be nice to my skin, help remove excess oil and also close any open pores. I also picked this up because Aloe is one of the most gentle skin care ingredient. Sadly, this toner did not work as well as expected.

When I sniffed it after coming home, I was put off by the scent. This has no added fragrance so I found it a bit odd that this smelled so much of alcohol. When I researched the ingredients a bit I found out that both Pentylene Glycol and Butylene Glycols are forms of alcohol. No idea why The Body Shop would label this as alcohol-free. Anyhow. I still decided to give it a go.
The toner feels like it is going to be soothing to the skin but I felt like it was doing nothing for my skin. I have used for so many months now but I have not noticed any visible difference. In fact my skin sometimes got irritated when I used this in winter, the dry spots on my cheeks got a bit red.

Another thing that irks me with many skincare products is that the product is based on an ingredient (this being Aloe based) which somehow comes last in line in the ingredient list. So Aloe Leaf Juice should be somewhere near the top of the ingredient list. I mean, I would like to see it at the top. I cannot complain though because the ingredient list is very tiny for this toner.

Overall I would say that The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner is an average facial toner that would remove a little bit of makeup residue or oil from the face. It may work better for normal and oily skin types but for my dry skin, it did not do much. Despite the claims, I do not think this skin toner was gentle enough for my skin. So if you have dry and/or sensitive skin, I would suggest skipping this toner. Otherwise, it has a small ingredient list and it lasts a long time!

The Body Shop Aloe Vera range is one of my favourites. It’s calming and gentle on my sensitive skin, but still manages to remove oil easily.
It did not work as well for me but I have heard many people rave about it!
Too pricey for an average toner! I never have good experience with any TBS skincare products! They are simply over-hyped 😐
I have also not been crazy about many of the skincare products I have tried from them but I absolutely love their bath products!
