2013 is long gone but the beauty finds from my whole year of non-stop product experiments stay with me for 2014. I would like to think that my research (being new to the beauty world) has paid off and I finally feel like I know what I am doing! Without any delay let me show you my favorite beauty products from 2013.
- The Face Shop Volcanic Clay Blackhead nose pack
- L’occitane Almond Milk Concentrate
- Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist
- Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EdP
- Etude House Shea Butter Nutrifull Essentializer
- Victoria’s Secret Mango Temptation Body Lotion
- Argan Oil 100%
- The Face Shop Honey Black Sugar Scrub
- Missha Bordeoux Face & Body oil
- Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream (for dry, sensitive skin)
- Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera Gel
It feels weird to start with a blackhead remover pack but I placed at the left corner so I cannot help but start from that end.
The Face Shop Volcanic Clay Blackhead nose pack
The Face Shop New Zealand Volcanic Clay Blackhead Nose pack is the best way to get rid of blackheads! I have never tried any blackhead remover strip because I had heard that it hurt and even while using this I feared pulling on my skin but it did not hurt much and got rid of the blackheads. It is blue in color and very viscous, it is easy to apply and dries within 15 minutes when applied on the area. And then just remove it gently from the both sides of the nose to reveal a clean and clear skin!
L’occitane Almond Milk Concentrate
This is hands down my best beauty find of 2013. I bought this in December but I got such awesome results with it that I decided to feature it in my best of 2013 post! It is meant to deeply moisturize and firm the skin. It is paraben and fragrance-free. It feels amazing to the skin. Read the full review here.
Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist
This is the face wash I used the most in 2013. It cleanses the skin, does not strip the moisture from the skin, does not irritate the skin and also lathers very nicely. I bought this after buying the Etude House Baking Powder Cleansing Foam which comes in a blue squeeze tube (this comes in pink), the blue one works really well for oily skin while this one works beautifully for dry skin. Baking Powder is supposed to exfoliate the skin gently hence deep cleaning the pores. I like the blue cleansing foam a little more because of its exfoliating power is higher but since fall this one has worked well and not dried out my skin!
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EdP
While compiling my best of 2013 series, I did not know where I could include my favorite fragrance – Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum. I decided to keep it in this post as I always consider perfume to be a part of the beauty routine!
This has been my favorite perfume ever since I first tried (and bought) it in 2011! Sniff it to know how good it is. I bought it at the Sweden duty-free while coming back to India. It is pricey but if you are in a mood for a splurge and a perfume-junkie like me, you will not regret trying this out!
Etude House Shea Butter Nutrifull Essentializer
Etude House Shea Butter Nutrifull Essentializer is a unique beauty product. It is an essence in lotion form. So it is a sort of facial for your skin even when applied like a normal face moisturizer!
I bought this in November (and repurchased it recently) and used it to keep my skin from drying out in the cold harsh weather of Seoul. On days of extra dry skin, I used it under my BB cream to keep an extra layer of moisture for my skin.
Victoria’s Secret Mango Temptation Body Lotion
My first time trying out Victoria’s Secret body products and I am already in love! I bought the Amber Romance Shower Cream and Mango Temptation Body lotion a few months and have been savoring the awesome exotic scents ever since!
Mango temptation body lotion is moisturizing to the skin and the USP in my opinion is the unique Mango+hibiscus smell, pink color and the thick consistency (but fluid) of the lotion. LOVE it!
Argan Oil
I detest following other when it comes to beauty finds. Everyone had been raving about Argan oil and I finally gave in. And am I glad I did. My skin and hair have never felt better!
Inspired by the benefits of Argan oil that I received, I did a post of different ways to use Argan oil.
The Face Shop Honey Black Sugar Scrub
The Face Shop Honey Black Sugar Scrub is the only face scrub available in The Face Shop and it is amazing! It feels very gentle to the skin, exfoliates properly and does not dry out the skin. The honey in the scrub helps soothe and moisturize the skin. I have dry skin so I select face scrubs very carefully. This face scrub ticks all the right boxes in my opinion. The exfoliating beads are small and yet they take away any dirt, grime and dead skin cells easily.
Missha Bordeoux Face & Body oil
My skin gets really dry in winter and if I do not pay attention, it turns itchy. So for the past few years, I have started using body oils is conjunction with body lotions and creams. I use body oil 2-3 times a week (depending upon the skin condition) and use body lotion on other days. This winter I had Missha Bordeoux Face & Body oil, L’occitane Almond Milk Concentrate and Victoria Secret Mango Temptation body lotion in rotation. My body skin has not been dry, flaky or itchy at all!
I have not used this on my face but since it is a face and body oil, I am sure it works great on the face too! Since it is not sticky or thick.
Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream (for dry, sensitive skin)
When I ran out of my Etude House Shea Butter Nutrifull Essentializer, I delayed buying it again (waiting for a sale) and started using my summer face cream – The Body Shop Aloe Night Cream – and my skin protested right away. Within 3 days, I developed dry patches on my face 🙁 Then my friend recommended Cetaphil to me. She has oily skin and had good results with their moisturizer (meant for oily skin). I immediately bought the Cetaphil Moisturizing cream meant for dry and sensitive skin. Within 2 days, my skin returned to normal!
I have been using Cetaphil everyday since!
Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera Gel
Who does not like Aloe Vera Gel? I loved using the Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel to cool my eyes, depuff my eyes, calm my skin after waxing, soothe my skin after threading and cool mu skin after sun burn and tanning! This Aloe vera gel also helped me survive summer when my skin did not want any lotion, moisturizer or cream!
This is my list of the best products I used in 2013. What have you loved in 2013? Have you used any of the products listed above?
