Review: Oriflame Tender care

Oriflame longest running, best-selling product – Tender care – wowed me at first. I feel a bit crazy to even review this but I think I have a few valid points to say about it. And I think many people will not agree with my opinion on this product but let’s still review it the way it should be reviewed!

Oriflame tender care multi purpose moisturizing balm
Oriflame Tender care

Product: Oriflame Tender Care
Claim: A totally versatile pot of magic based on bees wax and vegetable oils. Use on sides of eyes, lips, face, cuticles or any area which is dry, sore or roughened to instantly restore softness.
Quantity: 15 ml
Ingredients: PETROLATUM, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, CERA ALBA, PARAFFIN, ACETYLATED LANOLIN, CETYL ALCOHOL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, PROPYLPARABEN
I bought this when I bought Oriflame products for the first time. It is their bestseller so I had high expectations. After using this a few times, I started liking it more and more. I used it on my knees, heels, elbows and lips. it was very moisturizing. And since I did not look at the ingredients, I started recommending this to everyone I knew left and right.
One time I got eczema close to my left eyebrow. This and coconut oil were the only things that kept the affected area moisturized and less itchy. Everything else vanished so fast that I was making my eczema worse by scratching (and hence spreading it over my face). It was an ultimate product in skin care until I saw the ingredient list.
The softness and apparent moisturizing effect is there because it is a (heavy) petroleum-based product. Since petroleum based products cannot seep into the skin, they sit on the top most layer making us believe that their effects are long-lasting and their effects are more moisturizing (which of course is not true).
I am still not writing off this product. it does serve a purpose but if my skin is dry and I want it to be moisturized deeply, I apply a vegetable oil based cream which seeps into the skin and moisturizes from within.
The Oriflame Tender care balm is still good for using on dry patches (to stop the area being itchy) and calming the skin!

If this was not a petroleum-based product, it would have been my go to balm for everything – feet, lips, hands, elbows and other dry areas on my skin!
