It does not happen very often that I wear free flowing fabrics together; I usually pair a baggy top with a structured bottom and vice versa. But this day was different.
Even though many plus size people live in baggy clothes believing it will help hide the flab, I (now) believe that fitted clothes look better on me than baggy clothes. Apple- shape is one of the most difficult in my humble opinion to dress. Most designers give the same advice – wear dark colours (especially black) to give a slimming effect, V neck or wrap-around tops to give the illusion of a smaller bust. So these days, ever since I decided to jump into fashion blogging, I am defying rules or at least wearing whatever I feel like wearing without caring about if it has a slimming effect or not. Life is too short to be spent on trying to appear slimmer (don’t you agree?) I want to dress up and have fun with it!
So a couple of days ago, I paired my flow-y full-sleeve Zara blouse with an A-line Chevron print Maxi skirt. I had picked it up from Westside mainly because I have a dearth of long skirts and I think they work best for fall in North India! Normally I would have picked up jeggings or skinny jeans with this Zara Woman blouse and a fitted T-shirt for this skirt.
When I picked up this top from Zara, I just loved the colour so much that I did not pay attention to anything else. But now I sort of regret buying this, it gets crumpled so easily. I hate it! I had ironed it and worn it less than an hour before we took these photos 🙁 Anyhow, it is really soft and feels like air!
The scarf is from Westside and it is one of the most versatile scarfs with so many colors and is made out of soft fabric. I practically carry it with me everywhere. It is always there in my handbag. Now that the weather is changing, it will be helpful in keeping myself a bit warm in the evenings!
For accessories I usually stick to the same metal but in a hurry, I paired my black metal earring with antique gold bangle set. I used to be a huge silver fan but lately I have been reaching for gold or rose gold accessories. The bangles are from American Swan and the earrings are from a brand called SIX from Sweden (I shortened these earrings, read here)
In dearth of a nice pair of flat sandals, I wore my most used pair of footwear, Black and Gold Solovoga wedges, with this outfit. If I had the option, I would have worn a pair of gladiators or something! And this pink clutch – I received it as a gift with purchase in Etude House, Korea. It is not a clutch as such but whatever!
Here is a closer look!
