Vana Vidhi Darjeeling Green Tea Luxe Summer Spa Skincare – REVIEW

I got to try out products from the brand, Vana, last month through the Spa Edition of the MyEnvyBox May 2015. I was super excited to get a trial set of 5 products from the brand, that I had never tried before, and started using them immediately. I have always been a fan of natural and nature-origin products so I had high expectations from these products (considering the price point of these products too). So here is a review of all of the products I tried from the brand! It’s a long post so grab a cup of coffee 😉

Vana Strong Brew Green Tea Natural Face Wash

Claim: Vana’s Strong Brew Green Tea Face Wash provides for a thick and luxurious gel lather, with natural sulphate-free lathers and so much goodness of Darjeeling Tea for this summer. Pamper your skin with Green Tea and Water.
Quantity: 115 ml
Price: 1899 INR
* 40 ml size included in this box
Ingredients: Green Tea extract, Soapnut extract, Shikakai extract, Aloe Vera extract, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Natural Green Tea Essential Oil, Purified Water, Natural Preservative
Vana Green Tea Face Wash comes in a clear plastic bottle with metallic gold lid. It smells of green tea (duh?) and is very soothing to the skin. The face wash itself is honey-colored and has a gel-like consistency. A little goes a long way and it lathers well. I have used it to remove the makeup residue after cleansing the makeup with an oil and this has been successful at that. It also does not rip the moisture off the skin and is really gentle. My skin feels clean but not dry after using this face wash. I really enjoyed using this face wash but it is very expensive on its own considering some other wonderful products come at a fraction of the price! I will still consider repurchasing this face wash in the future. I think this face wash will work for all skin types including sensitive skin!

Vana Strong Brew Aloe Vera & Green Tea Body Wash

Quantity: 200 ml

* 40 ml size included in this box
Ingredients: Green Tea extract, Soapnut extract, Shikakai extract, Aloe Vera extract, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Natural Vegetable Glycerin, Purified Water, Natural Preservative
A soap/body wash/shower gel without SLS are easy to find these days and the Vana body wash is the latest SLS-free body wash I have tried. It comes in a clear plastic bottle with metallic gold twist open lid. It is honey-colored and has gel-like consistency. This body wash lathers slightly and is really gentle on the skin. It smells of green tea with a slight hint of citrus scent (might just be me). It washes off well and does not leave the skin feeling patchy. I like using a little stronger body washes so this one was a but too mild for my taste (also considering the price) so for now I am not planning to repurchase this body wash right away. I enjoyed using it though and am glad that I got to try it. I might pick it up in the future.

Vana Mild Brew Green Tea Shampoo

Claim: Vana’s Mild Brew Green Tea Shampoo is a sulphate-free shampoo that cleans the hair with the purity of hand-picked Green Tea. The mild brew works wonderfully on the hair!
Quantity: 115 ml
Price: 1500 INR
* 40 ml size included in this box
Ingredients: Guar Gum, Tea Tree Oil, Green Tea extract, Sodium Chloride, Natural Plantapon SF, Natural Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, Purified Water, Natural Preservative
Vana Green Tea Shampoo comes in a clear plastic bottle with metallic twist open lid. The packaging is pretty basic and the shampoo itself is translucent liquid. Since this whole range is green-tea based, so this shampoo is also very mild and has a soothing Green tea scent with a bit of a citrus kick.
Out of all the products from this kit, the shampoo is my least favorite since it does not remove the oil from my hair thoroughly. I try to do oil massage for my dry hair everytime before washing it. So I usually need a bit of a strong shampoo to rinse the oil completely from my hair. Sadly, this shampoo is not able to do that for me even though it works well is I do not apply oil to my hair. I think this shampoo is mild for me and will work better for people with oily/normal hair and/or people who wash their hair everyday. I will not repurchase this product despite an impressive ingredient list and a nice scent.

Vana Mild Brew Green Tea Hair Conditioner

Claim: Vana’s Mild Brew Green Tea Conditioner works to condition, grow and strengthen the hair!
Quantity: 115 ml
Price: 1599 INR
* 40 ml size included in this box
Ingredients: Tea Tree Oil, Guar Gum, D-Panthenol, Green Tea extract, Plant derived Cetyl Alcohol, Vitamin E, Natural Butyl Glycol, Natural Acetate, Natural Hydrogenated Olivate, Purified Water.
The Vana Green Tea conditioner comes in a clear plastic bottle with gold twist open lid. The conditioner is white in color and has the consistency of a body lotion. The scent is the very soothing green tea scent. This conditioner feels rich but I noticed a bit of gooey-ness when squeezing it out of the bottle. So it does not pour out evenly. However, it washes out well and leaves the hair smooth and manageable.
I have used it with other shampoos and the Vana Green Tea shampoo; and I think it works better with rich shampoos like my MoroccanOil Moisture Repair Shampoo. I have colored hair plus it is very dry so I prefer moisturizing hair products which this conditioner provides to my hair. I want to try other products before I repurchase this conditioner but it is definitely a good choice for people with oily/normal hair.

Vana Mild Brew Green Tea Natural Moisturizing Body Lotion

Claim: Vana’s Mild brew Green Tea Natual Moisturizing body lotion imparts freshness and pampering to your skin.
Quantity:  115 ml
Price: 1500 INR
* 40 ml size included in this box
Ingredients: Sunflower oil, IPM Source Coconut oil, Soy Bean oil, Plant-derived Stearic Acid, Green Tea extract, Plant-derived Cetyl Alcohol, Almond oil, Green Tea Essential Oil, Purified Water, Natural Preservative.
Vana Green Tea body lotion comes in a white plastic bottle with gold twist open lid. The bottle comes with a stopper which you can poke a hole in to dispense the product. Of course the stopper can be removed completely. The body lotion is white in color and smells divine. I really liked its thin but hydrating texture; it spreads really well on the skin and absorbs fast without leaving a sticky residue. The body lotion is light but it is moisturizing and hence is suitable for all skin types even in summer. I like the ingredient list, everything is perfect with this body lotion. I will definitely repurchase this!

Darjeeling Forest Incense

Claim: Add a touch of meditation with Darjeeling Forest Incense which is uniquely stickless and hand rolled, adding harmony and solace to the body and soul.
Quantity: 12 sticks
Price: 300 INR
* 40 ml size included in this box
The Darjeeling Forest Incense is a handrolled stickless incense which gives a relaxing scent when burnt. The scent was not very strong and created a very spa-like feeling in my room when I lit it. However, I would have liked it to be a bit stronger plus I had some issues dealing with burning it since it is stickless. I have incense stand which only works for incense with sticks.

My Envy Box May 2015

Overall I like all of the products but for the price and my individual needs, I would consider picking up the body lotion and the face wash again. I prefer incense with sticks and so I will not be picking up the stick-less incense even though I really enjoyed using the two included in the set. I just love exploring new brands so it was fun trying out Vana products. They have a refreshing scent, are SLS-free and really gentle on the skin. I am a bit bummed out that I did not order the June MyEnvyBox since everyone is raving about them right now. Anyhow. Have you tried Vana products?
