Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes – Bohemian Soul palette Swatches, Review, Photos

Etude House release makeup palettes once in a blue moon. Last year I got both of their Play Color Eyes palettes released for the Holiday 2013. Following tradition I grabbed both of the Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes palettes released for Holiday 2014 as well. I have already reviewed the Fantastic Color Eyes Bloody Halloween palette so today I am reviewing the Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes Bohemian palette.

The packaging is the same size, in fact slightly more compact, than the Fantastic Color Eyes Trios. It is cute but we’ve seen better from Etude House before. I like the tribal print on this one. There are 6 shades in this palette in varied textures. This is a limited edition palette and retails for 14000 KRW (~14$).

Shade names and textures (left to right) in the Fantastic Color Eyes #2 Bohemian Soul palette:

  1. Folk Song (Satin)
  2. Apricot Jam (Cream)
  3. Ethnic Coral (Satin)
  4. Gypsy Queen (Glitter)
  5. Wanderlust (Metallic)
  6. Freedom (Metallic)

The palette is made of plastic and comes with a mirror which can be quite handy. It is sturdy and compact making it travel-friendly. The variety of shades in terms of color and texture is nice but without any matte, I believe this is not practical as a stand-alone palette for many people. It comes with a double ended sponge-tip applicator. I usually use these to apply some form of shimmer/glitter in the inner corner of my eye. The shade names, like the Play Color Eyes palettes, are written on a plastic sheet.

Folk Song is a mid tone taupe shade with tiny gold specs which do not show a lot making this a Satin finish shade. This can work great as an all over eyelid color or transition shade.
Apricot Jam is the cream shadow in this palette. It does not hold up on my oily eyelids. I prefer eye primer over cream shadows anyway. I have used this as a cream blush and it looks beautiful. I am not too keen on this shade for my lips though!
Ethnic Coral is a coral shade with golden shimmer particles but essentially shows up as a satin-finish on swatches. It works well for day time simple eye makeup. I like using Apricot Jam shade under this to build up intensity (over a primer of course).
Gypsy Queen is a champagne shade which feels like a pressed pigment to me (like a shade from the Play Color Eye Palette 1 from Holiday 2013). It lacks intensity but adds beautiful glitter to any shade when applied on top. It is moderately build-able.
Wanderlust is a metallic copper shade which is my favorite from this palette. Applied lightly it can add warmth and glamour to any other shade but built up stand-alone, this shade is a rockstar! Party time appropriate.
Freedom is my second favorite shade in this palette and is a metallic taupe shade that creates fabulous smokey eye. It is pigmented and looks nothing less than glamorous on the eyes.

I love this palette slightly more than the Bloody Halloween palette mainly because I love metallic shades! This palette, as I have mentioned above, is not necessarily a good stand-alone palette but it can be used in conjunction with other eye shadows to create awesome looks. I hope Etude House come out with more palettes and also include some shades like Wanderlust and Freedom in their regular Look At My Eyes eyeshadow singles range!
I will be creating and sharing makeup looks incorporating both of the Fantastic Color Eyes palette. Stay tuned!
