Konjac sponges are getting a worldwide attention now but they have been really popular in Asia for a few years. I got a Konjac sponge from Innisfree a couple of months ago and my life changed forever! My skincare routine will never be the same again. After using my Innisfree  Eco Beauty Tool 100% Natural Jelly Jeju Cleansing Sponge, my skin has been clearer and cleaner than ever before. And the deep cleansing action provided by this sponge has not dried out my skin at all.

What is a Konjac Sponge?
Konjac sponges are natural and eco-friendly face sponges (usually white) made from the root of the konjac plant. They contain a huge amount of natural fiber making them softer and more absorbent than normal sponges.

How to Use a Konjac Sponge?
Step 1: The Konjac sponges dry out in between uses and harden a little so keep the Sponge in warm water for a couple of minutes before use to soften it a little.
Step 2: Apply a little face cleanser on the sponge and massage the sponge on your damp face in circular motions. It lathers up easily and uses less cleanser than with wash clothes or bare hands.
Step 3: Wash face and then rinse the sponge under water until the water squeezed out of the sponge comes clean.
Step 4: Hang the Konjac sponge to air dry as most sponges come with a string. (Do not keep it in damp areas)
Note: Konjac sponges can develop bacteria if kept in damp conditions or not washed properly. And Konjac sponges should be replaced at least every 3 months.

What are the Skincare benefits of using Konjac Sponges?
1. Konjac sponges are very soft when damp so they are gentle to the skin. They are more effective than hands, brushes and wash cloths to reach every little area and pore on the face.
2. These sponge have good cleansing properties so they deep clean the skin taking out dirt, oil and grime from the skin pores.
3. Konjac sponges are eco-friendly and affordable than Cleansing gadgets like Clarisonic.
4. Konjac sponges can also be used to remove makeup. Use a makeup remover gel or cream to gently remove the makeup and cleanse the face. (Wash the sponge really well afterwards)
5. Konjac sponges have a definite shelf life so there is little chance of them getting infected or worn out. (Replace the sponge every 1-3 months, depending on use)
[Tip: Never keep Konjac sponges in the bathroom other than when in use.]
I love my Innisfree  Eco Beauty Tool 100% Natural Jelly Jeju Cleansing Sponge. Innisfree also do a Konjac sponge targeted towards oily skin – Innisfree  Eco Beauty Tool 100% Natural Jelly Jeju Volcanic Cleansing Sponge. The one for dry skin (that I am using) is circular in shape and white in color while the Sponge for oily skin is rectangular in shape and brown in color. Innisfree also sells a Konjac sponge for the body at quite an affordable price.
I have only used the Innisfree Konjac sponge but I have seen Etude House, The Face Shop, Aritaum carrying their respective Konjac sponges. And I think all of them are in the same price range of 5-10$ and probably work the same.
