Nature Republic Botanical Eco Crayon Lip Rouge #4 Satin Brown – Review

Lip Crayons have been huge in the past couple of years and I got sucked into this craze at Nature Republic quite sometime ago. I ahve now tried many other “chubby sticks” but I remember that my first one was a Nature Republic Botanical Eco Crayon Lip Rouge. I got 3 around the same time so I do not remember the shade but I think this copper shade came later than the first two. Let’s see how these worked for me!

Nature Republic is a low end Korean brand with products (as they claim) inspired by nature. I have used many of their products infact it is one of my third most familiar Korean brand in addition to Etude House and The Face Shop. The first thing I noticed when I opened this tube was how shimmery the color actually was. It was creamier than the shade #8 Natural Beige (reviewed here) but smelled just the same – like a crayon. One thing I need to really know is why do brands have added fragrance to their products when the scent is not going to be super pleasant. Of course it does not stay long on the lips but still  would have liked something better.
I liked the formula of this Lip Crayon better than the other two I got and I think that is because when I got this, Nature Republic had reformulated these. It is creamy, moisturizing and glossy. I like that it is not very sticky because some moisturizing lip products, especially drugstore ones, can be sticky. It is not a stain but lasts a good 3-4 hours. This color lasts well, transfers a little and fades away nicely. I like how easy reapplication is with jumbo lip pencils in general.
I am not sure if I need to mention that this does not feather out or dry out the lips. The color however, did not look good on me. This color will suit skintones which are slightly darker than mine or really pale. It looks really weird on me. I remember using Copper-toned lipsticks in college and even the Elizabeth Arden lipstick in 10 Copper Tan Shimmer (now discontinued) but this one just did not work for me. It looks like a burnt orange on me 🙁

I would have given this lip crayon better rating if it had suited me. I like this formula of Nature Republic Botanical Eco Crayon much better than the one I have used before. The lasting power is comparable to tinted lip balms. I alwaya have one “chubby stick” in my everyday makeup bag!
