Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam might be the most hyped face washes from Etude House right now. The Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam was released in 2012 I think but I did not take on the hype until late 2013. I have been using it for three months now (my second bottle) and here are my thoughts on it! Read my haul post.
Product: Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam
Claim: Formulated with baking powder and to gently exfoliate skin and penetrate pores for a thorough cleanse.
Quantity: 170 ml (5.74 fl. oz.)
Price: 6500 KRW
One of key points of this face wash are that it is supposed to clean pores because Baking Powder is a cleansing agent. I suspected Baking Powder to be a harsh chemical and therefore avoided buying it until curiosity got the best of me!
This face wash is very creamy when I first squeeze it out from the tube. Once I start massaging it all over my damp face, it starts lathering up and I feel a few tiny particles that also gently exfoliate the skin.
I notice a bit of tightening of skin after drying my face with a towel. And since I have dry skin, I am not sure this is even good for my skin; I also do not enjoy the squeaky clean feeling on my face. Of course I want a clean skin but I do not like to exfoliate everyday. I suspect this would be really good for people with oily skin especially for teenagers.
However, my face despite feeling a bit dry due to the weather and probably this face wash, has been cleaner with fewer breakouts so I have continued using this face wash.
This face wash is SLS free but it does contain Potassium Laurate. It smells citrus-y due to the lemon and orange peel oils (the orange scent is more pronounced). The packaging is basic tube form and I think there is a lot of product in there for the price.
I have also seen claims of this face wash removing makeup (even though the Etude House Baking Powder BB Cleansing Foam is meant for the purpose) but I have not personally tried it because I like to be sure of removing my makeup 100%. I feel uneasy just washing my face with a face wash if I am wearing a full face of makeup.

I cannot say if this is the best product for dry skin type but it definitely delivers its promise. And it also gives a slight brightening effect to the skin (which I do not think stays long). For people who like to exfoliate their skin daily, this is a great option and it is pretty affordable and one of the better face washes I have tried from drugstore!

I read somewhere that they have a baking powder one for dry skin too. is that the type you have there or the regular one?
You are right! They do have one, it’s called the Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist but that was not very effective for me
Oh so the cleansing power isnt the same? How strange! Good to know though
Yes! I got them both at the same time. I will review the moist one next on the blog!
[…] So, I had learnt from Sales Assistant that the Baking Powder Cleansing Foams are meant for gentle exfoliation (since Baking Powder has exfoliating properties), the Baking Powder Cleansing Foam Moist has ingredients to balance the drying properties of the Baking Powder and hence is suitable for dry skin. I have also used and reviewed the Etude House Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam. […]
