Etude House Magic Any Cushion Magic Peach – Review

One of the most hyped Etude House products right now is their Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion! It launched a little over a week ago and I got it on the day it was officially launched (Read the haul post). I have used it a few times and thought of letting you know my thoughts!

Magic Peach – Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion

I have been a lot into BB cream lately but I have never been into foundations and hence primers. I did not even try the Baby Choux base (oops!) because I do not mind my imperfections showing and I am ok with my makeup not looking crisp at the end of the day. But as I am getting more serious as a beauty blogger, I want to be able to learn more about makeup longevity and try new products. So that is basically why despite having doubts, I bought the Etude House Precious Mineral Magic Any Cushion.
The Magic cushions comes in three different shades:

Magic Mint

Magic Berry

Magic Peach

And each one serves a different purpose. The mint is for balancing the redness in the skin, the berry is to add some color to pale skin and peach is for brightening of complexion. The Sales Assistant suggested I get Magic Mint since I have a few red spots on my face but I was more interested in testing the brightening effect of Magic Peach so I bought that.
The Sales Assistant also told me that since this was a cushion type base, a cushion foundation like the Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion (launched a few months ago) will work well with this. I did not buy it because I had just bought IOPE Air Cushion! So I am using both of these cushion products with each other. I also tested it out using a normal BB cream.

Etude House Magic Any Cushion Review (my first FOTD shots…bad selfie alert)

Photo 1: No makeup
Photo 2: Only Magic Any Cushion – Magic Peach (Evens out skintone, lighter than my NC35 skintone)
Photo 3: Wearing IOPE Air Cushion (N23) on top of Magic Peach. (No concealer)
Brightening effect: Most Etude House products end up a little light for my NC35 complexion and Magic Peach appeared quite light when I applied it but settled within a few minutes. The brightening effect that Magic peach gave me was subtle and natural which I really liked. It is not exactly like a glow but when light hit my skin, my skin appeared radiant.
Light-weight: I do not notice any visible moisturizing or concealing action from Magic Peach but it felt like nothing on my skin, so light-weight that it’s like second skin!
Buildable: This is not something that anyone looks for in a primer but I still worked a little bit around my chin area since I suffer from hyper pigmentation. And it still looked good but not as natural as in a single layer.
Coverage: No. And since it is a makeup base product, it is not intended for coverage. But since this is marketed as a product that covers skin imperfections, I am not sure what I should think about this. It has no concealing properties whatsoever from my experience.
Scent: Sweet Floral (but not overpowering). It is a subtle scent when you apply it but if you sniff the cushion area, it is more noticeable.
Makeup Longevity: I have applied IOPE Air Cushion without using Magic Any Cushion base so in comparison I think Magic Any Cushion did a good job in holding up my face makeup well.
I will test this out even more to update if this opinion changes! I do not touch my makeup usually so I think my face makeup held up really well for 5 hours with the Any Cushion base.
Cushion type products are easy to touch up with (though I do not prefer it), I do not see a big reason I should be using this actually even with a Cushion foundation/BB cream.
Skintype: Even though many face makeup products from Etude House have a label of “For All Skintypes”, many of them work better for Oily to normal skintypes like Dear Girls Be Clear Moisturizer, Precious Mineral Bright Fit and Cotton Fit BB cream, Correct & Care CC creams etc. This one also falls in the same category. I liked it better with my Missha BB cream than IOPE Air Cushion because my dry skin needs some more moisturization! It made the dry patches around my lips look whiter and drier 🙁
Worth the money? I think for the amount of primer you get, 18000KRW is not affordable by any means and the cost rises further if you include the cost of Air cushions that need to be replaced frequently.
With cushion products I am also afraid of the cushion taking back germs into the product especially for touchups even though I am sure a primer need not be touched up on a full face of makeup.
I would be more willing to spend this kind of money for cushion foundation than primer. But that is just my personal preference and I know many people will like the Magic Any Cushion.

Rating: 4/5
Recommend: Yes
Repurchase: Maybe
I gave this a 4 out of 5 because I got Magic Peach which is for brightening and it does brighten up my skin. It is lightweight and helps my makeup hold stronger. I did not expect it to provide any coverage (or suit my dry skin very well as I have hard luck with primers) so I am not disappointed but this product is not a total must-have in my opinion.
