Etude House Skin-fit Foundation – Review (Spring/Summer 2014 collection)

I got the Etude House Skin-Fit foundation at the same time as I got the Color Lips-Fit lispticks as these were released together in the end of February 2014. I was having a little rough time with my skin as my skin felt extra dehydrated in winter so I used this foundation and kept it for a couple of months to try it again when spring comes as my skin gets less dry then. Now after using it in the past 3 weeks, I have formed my opinion and I do not think it is going to change with weather now. So let’s see how the Skin Fit Foundation worked for me!

I am an Etude House fan and some of their makeup products have worked really well for me. And since I am a visual-kind of person (how things look matters to me) so I am always keen on products with beautiful packaging. Anyway, so I try out the products from their line as much as I can plus most of my readers appreciate it so I try to do Etude House more than the other brands here on my blog. I have never found a “perfect foundation” so I am always trying new ones and for that reason I went for the foundation which looked like could have the answers for me! Onto the review…

Etude House Skin-fit Foundation – Shades and Swatches

The Etude House Skin-Fit foundation comes in a sleek white plastic cylindrical case with a pump to dispense the foundation. The pump works really well and dispenses quite an appropriate amount at each press. I usually do two for my face and neck. The consistency is thicker than a gel-based foundation but thinner than a creamy (heavy) foundation. The foundation dries to a semi-matte finish which I think is quite good for a polished but not lifeless and matte or made-up glow-y. I like dewy-finish foundation in winter but for summer I prefer semi-matte or satin-finish.
I also like the fact that this foundation is priced in the drugstore foundation range of 14$ for 30 g of the product. It also offers medium sun protection with an SPF30 and PA++. That is where the honeymoon ends actually.
This foundation clings to the dry spots on my face and makes them more obvious. It does not hide my pores and also does not last through out the day. I know this not marketed as a long-wearing foundation but I would have liked it to stay well for 8 hours. It does look good for about 4 hours before it starts fading on me. I do not sweat a lot so I do not know how it will work for people who do. It has a sheer to medium coverage and does not build very well on my dry skin.

Etude House Skin-fit Foundation – FOTD (Without flash)

etude house skin fit foundation natural beige
Etude House Skin Fit Foundation FOTD, Review, Swatch (With Flash)

The foundation comes only in 2 shades and both are lighter than the usual N02 Light Beige and W13 Natural beige the same shades in the Etude House Precious Mineral BB creams in my opinion. So it will only work for NC30 and below. I am NC35 so Natural Beige turned out lighter than me.  It takes time to set and sort of slowly matches the skintone – “skin-fit”. So it is sort of like a CC cream also (This property is quite similar to the Etude House Correct & Care CC cream). It does settle and look better but the moment I apply, I look like ghost haha.
This foundation also offer Whitening and Anti-Wrinkle skincare properties but I do not look for these things in my makeup or at least in my foundation. I have my Skin serum, moisturizer and masks for that purpose. The plastic bottle, pump dispenser, sleek design make this a travel-friendly foundation!

I had some expectations from this foundation that were not met but I am still happy with the light-weight wear of this foundation. I think, like most of the Korean foundations, this will work better oily skintypes or normal to oily! I prefer BB creams anyway but for special occasions, I do want the comfort and coverage of a foundation. Until now, MAC ProLongwear and Clio Professional Realest Wear Moist foundation have worked the best for me.
I have been using a lot of foundations, BB creams in the past 7 months and since I have now tested them in autumn, winter, spring and late spring I am ready to review them. The upcoming reivews are: Etude House CC cream – Glow, Skin79 Super+ Beblesh Balm (Pink), Skin79 Super+ VIP Gold Collection Super+ Beblesh Balm (Gold), MAC Pro Longwear, Etude House Precious Mineral Bright Fit BB cream (revisited), Nature Republic Tweety BB Cream in addition to skincare products.
