Homemade Body and Face Scrub Recipes

I love using homemade skin care items over what we get in drugstores which is funny since I buy a lot of body products, even more than makeup. I have never made a body wash/shower gel but I do replace body scrubs, body oils/lotions with natural products. So here are the homemade body and face scrub recipes I use on a regular basis when I want to give my skin a break from the chemicals.

Body and Face Scrub recipes

1. Grind 1 tbsp of split lentils (orange).
Stand in the shower for a minute or two and then take this powder, 1 teaspoon at a time, to rub gently on your body. Apply a moisturizing body oil or lotions immediately after the shower.
This scrub is a little too harsh for the face so use it only from neck down. It instantly smooths out rough skin and also does a good job scrubbing off dead skin from elbows and feet.
For face: Add milk or milk cream and leave for 30 minutes before scrubbing so as to let the lentils get a little soft (mushy) with milk. Your skin will glow and feel super soft!
Lentils can be ground in a larger quantity and stored for a month in an airtight container.
2. Ground coffee beans, milk and sugar
This might be the most delicious body scrub in my opinion and it is also supposed to have a slimming effect (which I cannot comment on because I have not used it as consistently or for that purpose).
Grind 1 tbsp of coffee beans and add 1/2 cup of cold full-fat milk (or any oil like coconut or olive oil) and then add 2 tsp of sugar. This is makes your skin feel so lush and soft that you will never want to use another bod scrub again!
Do not make this mixture in advance and make sure the coffee beans are finely ground for this scrub.
For face: Reduce the quantities of sugar and ground coffee beans (1/2 tsp ground coffee beans, 1/2 tsp powdered sugar, 3 tsp milk). It can be a little abrasive so do it very gently and stop if your skin feels sensitive.
3. Sugar, olive oil and lemon juice.
I use olive oil and sugar mixture to scrub my lips a lot since I have never bought a lip scrub but this works equally well for the body but I always add lemon juice to keep the stickiness in control. Lemon juice is a natural exfoliant and besides giving fresh feel and amazing scent, it also helps brighten up the sin.
I usually keep the ratio of 1 tbsp: 2 tsp: 1tsp for olive oil, sugar and lemon juice.
I never make this mixture in advance. And I would recommend making this just before using it. If you shower before using this scrub, you may not even need to moisturize your body afterwards. Olive oil does that for you!
So these are the three main homemade scrubs that I use to scrub my face and body. I hope you found these homemade body and face scrub recipes helpful. Share your secret scrub recipes with me!
