I love talking about sunscreen especially why it is essential to include it in your skincare routine. Now that it is summer time, the sun is going to wreak a havoc on your skin if you do not protect your skin from direct sun rays. Sunscreen can help you immensely since all you have to do it to apply a generous amount of sunscreen on the exposed parts of your skin before stepping out in the sun and stay protected from sun damage.
I have already talked about a few sunscreen basics in the past. However, I recently realised that many people do not know what a broad spectrum sunscreen is and how to choose a sunscreen. So I decided to do a detailed post about it.
Broad Spectrum sunscreen:
A suncreen that contains both SPF and PA is known as a broad spectrum sunscreen. Sometimes, broad spectrum suncreens are also known as full-spectrum sunscreens since they protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.

Earlier in the days, many sunscreens only contained Sun Protection Factor (SPF). This meant that the people who applied this sunscreen were only protected from the UVB rays of the sun and their skin was still exposed to the damaging UVA rays of the sun. Thankfully, more companies have introduced sunscreens containing both SPF and PA that protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.
The term “broad spectrum sunscreen” is losing its importance since a majority of sunscreens these days contain SPF and PA to protect the skin from the UVB and UVA rays on the sun respectively.
