Plus Size Fashion: What I Wore to My Sis-in-law's Engagement

Indian Festive Outfit: My Sister-in-Law’s Engagement Party

Hi everyone, it feels like I have not talked to you guys in a long time. The thing is that my sister in law’s engagement has kept me busy for the past couple of weeks. Of course, I had a few posts scheduled in advance for you to enjoy, however, I did not actively blog for a bit over two weeks. Anyway. Now I am back to my normal routine *sob sob* My sister-in-law’s engagement party was held last Sunday and I thought of sharing my outfit (and a glimpse of her outfit) with all of you today! Hope you like it…

I love to wear Indian outfits to weddings and other occasions. That is the main reason I went for this Deepika Padukone’s inspired cape lehenga outfit. I hate following celebrity fashion normally but this one just stole my heart.
There were plenty of colours to choose from and I picked up this rusty orange, almost red, colour since I knew it was going to stand out. Most people opt for pink, green and blue especially for an engagement party. I also wanted to keep the bling to minimal since I hate heavy work. Despite knowing that this outfit is not ideal for my apple frame, I went for this lehenga skirt. I felt like the flared bottom will give the illusion of a defined waist (that I actually do not have). The cape would also work as my dupatta since I am the bahu of the house and would be facing a lot of relatives.
I wanted to keep the accessories light since this outfit had enough bling to cover the neckline (mirror work) and the cape’s hemline. I opted for a dainty gold chain, heavy studded jhumkis and studded bangles to complete my outfit. I got ready at the Looks Salon in Dwarka and they did the makeup and hair for me. I requested a dewy skin, highlighted cheekbones and winged liner with bold lips look (since I think it works the best for me).
My hair is quite stubborn and I decided to keep that normal as well with side swept front look and defined curls at the back with a complimenting accessory. I wanted to dance a lot so I got a pair of 2-inch heel studded gold sandals from Stilettoes. I think the look turned out to be simple, graceful and classy, exactly as I had envisioned it.

I am so happy for her and will surely share outfit details from her wedding (in February 2017).
I hope you liked this outfit from my sister in law’s engagement. Since we got her dress from Benazir as well, I asked permission for sharing her photo here on the blog and she happily agreed. Here’s a glimpse of her “gown”:
