Tata Hexa Media Launch: Everything You Need to Know About HEXA by Tata Motors

Hi everyone, it is going to be the understatement of the year when I say that “Tata Hexa is a wonderful car”. But I am getting a bit ahead of myself here. Let me trace back my steps and tell you that I was in Hyderabad for the media launch of Tata Hexa organized by Tata Motors and Indiblogger on 22nd and 23rd of October at the Novotel Hyderabad Airport Hotel. The event was rightly called #HexaExperience and what an experience it was!

It was an action-packed event spread over the weekend where we got to see, drive and love the new Tata Hexa. Day 1 started with flying with fellow bloggers to Hyderabad in the afternoon. I have attended a few events held in Delhi in the past and yet had never met any of the bloggers attending this event. Thankfully, Indiblogger booked our tickets together (Indigo) and I got to interact with them. I had a great time talking to a fellow fashion blogger, Namrata Sehgal, during my flight.

After the 2.2 hours flight, we reached Novotel in less than 5 minutes since it is in the Airport area itself. We quickly registered and took our badges before rushing to the Haldi restaurant for lunch.The food was good with a mix of Indian and International dishes. Then we headed back to our rooms. After entering my room, I discovered that I was going to be sharing my room with a fellow blogger. I ended up with a great Doctor-cum Blogger, Preeti Chauhan. We chatted for a while before getting ready for the Hexa product presentation, Q&A session and Drive briefing at the Hyderabad Ballroom in the hotel in the evening.

It was interesting to find out all the features of the Tata Hexa in great detail. I specifically loved knowing how the car design came into being. Loved all the sketches of the car. Then we were asked to divide amongst the 60 of us in groups of three with at least one of us knowing how to drive a manual shift and automatic shift or both. I was paired up with Gowtham and Srinivasan, bloggers from Chennai. Gowtham had driven an automatic shift before while I and Srinivasan only knew how to drive a manual shift. We learnt a lot about the features of Tata Hexa.

After a great session, we went to the lawn adjoining the ballroom to interact with bloggers from other cities. I had a great time meeting two wonderful bloggers from Mumbai, Avantika and Sangeeta. We also got to see and click a few pictures of the car. And then all of us had a few starters while the Youtube star, Biswa Kalyan, took the stage for his stand-up comedy act. He had us in splits! I had dinner and went to the caricature artist invited at the event for a sketch. Loved what he did! and retired to my room.

Others were still interacting but I wanted to conserve my energies for the next day since were going to be driving The HEXA! So I retired to my room.

We had an early start the next day and woke up before 5 to get ready and check out from the hotel. Actually, we were so pumped to take the new Tata Hexa on a 170 km ride that we couldn’t sleep well. We had our breakfast on the lawn next to the pool and went to the parking area to see 20 Tata Hexa cars lined up. 10 in Arizona Blue (Manual Shift) and 10 in Chrome Silver (Automatic shift). We were given a little brief about the infotainment system and route before we flagged off for the drive.

Most bloggers seemed to love the Automatic shift but had loved the Arizona Blue for its looks! We got to drive the automatic shift first and Gowtham took the wheel since Srinivasan and I were hesitant to drive at first. The drive was flagged off by the Marketing Strategist, Vivek and Design Head, Richard from Tata Motors. Gowtham drove for about 30 kilometers before handing over the car to me. We took some wonderful shots of the car at a few locations during the drive. We also clicked a few selfies and group photos with the car.

I drove for about 30 kilometers totally loving the automatic shift. This was my first time driving a crossover (we have an i20 Activ and Alto). It was smooth (like Malai) and the car itself made me feel like I was the “Queen of the Road”. Then it was time to let Srinivasan drive the car and I brought the car to a screeching halt (literally, since I was new to Automatic shift).

Srinivasan drove well and took us safely to the resort where we had a few refreshments while the Manual shift was being readied for us. We left at around 10 am from the resort for Novotel. The drive was smooth and I told my teammates to hand me the manual shift for the last 10 kilometers. We did not stop while coming back and made our way back to Novotel by 11.45 am. We were in high spirits and loved Tata Hexa with both the Manual and the Automatic shift.

Then started the fabulous Off-roading experience created by Tata Motors. It was something that just blew our mind. Trained drivers took the steering to take bloggers experience the off-roading capabilities of Tata Hexa. The driver demonstrated the traction control system of the car. The car remained stable and moved forwards despite the 1.5 to 2 feet deep “potholes”.

It was fun to go up at an angle on slabs of ice where the tyres won against slippery melting ice. We moved ahead with ease. Then came the 21-degree inclination where we drove for a few metres and then had a minute of standstill which was exhilarating. Hill Descent control system is amazing as the computer takes control of the car to prevent free fall. The car automatically controlled the brakes and applied them as required. A few more displays of the ability of Tata Hexa where we saw sudden acceleration and sudden application of brakes. It was smoother in the Rough Road mode. I loved this thoroughly and the irony is that I do not even consider myself as an adventurous person.

The event culminated with a nice lunch and a networking session for the bloggers. I headed home with the fellow Delhi bloggers in our Indigo flight. It was one of the most memorable experiences I got to have. I am so grateful to Indiblogger and Tata Motors for selecting me for this event. And thank you so much to all of you who have supported me in my blogging journey over the course of the past 5 years.
*I will list all the features of Tata Hexa in a separate post soon. The mileage and price of the car will be revealed at the official delivery date of Tata Hexa in January 2017. The booking is going to commence from November.
