Indian Festive Fashion – Outfit and makeup!
Hi everyone! I took a leave from my office to stay at home for Karwachauth and get dolled up in the afternoon before pooja. I love to wear new outfits on important festivals but sometimes it is not feasible. This time also I got two new outfits for my sister-in-law’s engagement and wedding making it impossible to stretch the budget to buy a new outfit. Anyway, I still decided to get creative and mix-and-match a few things to create a new-ish outfit. The inspiration for this look was Deepika Padukone’s outfit and makeup look from the Kabira song (Kalki’s wedding). Hope you like this outfit and makeup!
The lehenga is actually a skirt that is a part of the outfit that I picked for my sis-in-laws wedding reception. The dupatta belongs to another lehenga that I wore to my other sister-in-law’s wedding. And the blouse belongs to a saree that I was gifted at my wedding. I think all of these came together well. I got a lot of compliments from family and friends. And a lot of you who follow me on Instagram, also seemed to like it. It made my day 🙂 If you do not follow me on Instagram yet, which I think you should, here is the link: iamritukt.
I kept the makeup quite simple just keeping the lips at the center stage. I had this outfit in my mind, even though I had no idea how it would actually look put together, so I wanted to wear a bold lipstick matching my blouse. I added a bronze eyeshadow. Mixed royal blue and black for eyeliner and also mixed two lipsticks to get this lipstick shade. The rest of the face makeup was subtle. I know, because I have been told numerous times, that bold lips look work better for me than bold eyes. So I try to incorporate that when I get ready for special occasions.
My hair is usually a mess and I try to be kind to it and let it be, refraining from using heat treatment to tame it. This time also, I used a bump-pit to create some volume at the crown and then created a low bun by wrapping my hair in my ponytail. I was channeling my inner Deepika Padukone, you see!
Since I am working full-time now, I get less time to do makeup and relatively more to dress up. And because of this, you will see more makeup reviews and outfit posts on the blog. I have some office outfit posts planned in the near future. My sis-in-law is getting engaged in November so I will be sharing my look details – fashion and makeup – with all of you too. Make sure you are signed up for blog updates(or sign up with your email from the bar at the bottom of this screen).
Let me know what you think of this look. And also share your festive looks with me on social media. Have a great day. Talk to you soon!
